Private D-Day Tours in Normandy led by a professional battlefield historian and author

Experience the
real history of June 6, 1944 on the battlefields where thousands of American, British, and Canadian soldiers fought for freedom. At Remember D-Day Tours, we specialize in
private, expert-led tours of the Normandy landing beaches and battlefields that go far beyond surface-level sightseeing.
Our tours are designed especially for American visitors who want to understand what their soldiers experienced on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
My name is Alexander Braun. I have been researching, writing about, and guiding tours of the Normandy battlefield since 2006. I am the author of multiple guidebooks on the D-Day landing beaches and have personally guided hundreds of visitors from the United States, Canada, the UK, and Europe.
Many of our American guests come to Normandy to follow the path of a father or grandfather who landed with units such as the 1st Infantry Division on Omaha Beach or the 101st Airborne near Sainte-Mère-Église.
We help you understand where they landed, why they fought there, and what happened to them during the Battle of Normandy.
We specialize in private, customizable tours that are designed especially for American visitors, families, veterans, and military history enthusiasts. On our tours, you will:
- Visit the actual landing beaches and key battlefield sites of Operation Overlord (such as Utah, Omaha, and airborne sectors).
- Explore historic terrain with an experienced guide with real battlefield research and published expertise.
- Learn about the soldiers, units, strategies, and sacrifices that shaped D-Day.
When you tour with us, you'll get an in-depth and detailed history, illustrated with photos, maps, and personal accounts from those who were there, and of course you'll have time to explore the sites and take photos.
Every tour is private and customizable, meaning we can tailor them to your pace and interests.
This allows time for questions, reflection, photographs, and detailed explanations that are simply not possible in large group tours.
Whether you are interested in military logistics, the battle history of specific units, or the political context of World War II, we can provide interesting and easy-to-understand facts and background information.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mary G., Florida, USA
We took a two-day private tour with Alexander on the D-Day beaches of Normandy in the first week of October 2023, and the experience was truly phenomenal.
Alexander’s knowledge of the sites, the events leading up to the invasion, and the Battle of Normandy itself is exceptional. I am not a history buff and knew very little beforehand, but his explanations of the Allied invasion of France were so clear and well structured that I never felt overwhelmed or confused.
In addition to the tour, Alexander documented our journey with photographs of us at the major sites. These were later included in a personalized D-Day e-book he sent to us, complete with historical background on the places we visited.
This e-book is now a lifelong memory of our time in Normandy. We cannot thank Alexander enough for the time, care, and knowledge he shared with us.

Alexander has an exceptionally deep and detailed knowledge of the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. I had the pleasure of joining one of his tours along Omaha Beach, including visits to the German bunkers that defended the coastline.
The tour was fascinating, with explanations as detailed and clear as possible. For me, it was one of the most interesting and informative historical tours I have ever experienced.

My husband and I took a one-day private tour of the American landing beaches with Alexander. It was an extremely emotional experience for us, as my father landed on Omaha Beach — not on D-Day itself, but a few days later.
Seeing the German resistance nests along the beach, we were stunned by how anyone could have survived the assault. Alexander guided us with great empathy and sensitivity, sharing our emotions, especially as his own German grandfather is buried in Normandy.
This was not just a tour, but a deeply meaningful and unforgettable experience for us.

Ever since I watched The Longest Day as a child in the 1960s, I dreamed of standing in the bunker where the German officer first spotted the Allied invasion fleet.
During my tour with Alexander Braun, he not only showed me all the key sites where American soldiers fought, but also took me to the exact bunker where that iconic scene was filmed. Inside the bunker, he even showed me the movie scene on his tablet so I could compare it directly with the real location.
This was an incredibly emotional moment for me. For over 50 years, I had wanted to stand there. Alexander made that lifelong wish come true and gave me a truly wonderful and unforgettable experience.
